Starting Weight: 201.6

Today’s Weight: 193.6

Overnight Gain/Loss: -.6 (Another 1/2 pound lost. I’m happy with that!)

Total Loss: 8 pounds in 6 days!

HHCG: 15 – 12 – 9 (I tried an experiment today and staggered my HCG drops. I don’t think it made a difference. I’m still feeling hungry at times).

Well, I managed to drop another 1/2 pound. I’m happy.

Today, I had my usual coffee for breakfast. For lunch, I broke protocol yet again and made a homemade coleslaw. It consisted of 1/4 cabbage, homemade slaw dressing (2 Tbl coconut oil, 1 egg, 3 whites with apple cider vinegar and splenda, black pepper). I ate my coleslaw with one breadstick.

For dinner, I ate a homemade crab patty made with a 2 oz. of crabmeat, 1 egg white, breadstick crumbs, salt, and pepper. Along with my crab patty, I ate 1/2 cucumber that had been soaking in some apple cider vinegar. It was a little tart. Next time, I will add some splenda or other sweetener. I ate 6 strawberries for my dessert.

I drank my 3 liters of water for the day.

Overnight Gain/Loss: -.4 (Not a lot, but that’s ok. I didn’t follow protocol well yesterday. 1/2 pound is still good)

Total Loss: 7.4 pounds in 5 days!

HHCG: 18 drops 2 x day (trying this for a 3rd day)

So, I burped up bell pepper half the night and felt like I had a mild case of heartburn. I don’t think I will be doing THAT again! lol. I’m still losing weight, so it’s all good.

For breakfast, it was my usual coffee and splenda again! For lunch, I decided to have some cottage cheese. In the manuscript, Dr. Simeon does mention an occasional egg plus 3 whites or low-fat cottage cheese in place of a meat protein. Well, I would really like to change things up so I don’t get bored. My lunch consisted of 6 strawberries in 2% cottage cheese (Daisy brand!), 7 asparagus, and one breadstick. 5 chocolate delights – they are becoming a weakness for me.

For dinner,  once again, I broke protocol and made a “mock” lasagna. The hubby and kids had lasagna for dinner, so I decided to make one for me. To make the lasagna, I used a large cabbage leaf split in half. I placed one half on the bottom of a small pie plate. On top of the cabbage leaf, I placed 2 oz. of cooked 96% lean ground beef mixed with 1/2 a mixture of 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, oregano, salt, pepper, and a little bit of water. Then, I spooned 1/4  c. of cottage cheese over the ground beef mixture and topped it with the other half of the cabbage leaf. I spooned the remaining tomato mixture over the top. I covered it with foil and cooked it in the oven for a while. This would have turned out better if I had cooked the cabbage leaves in advance. The cottage cheese had dried out, and the cabbage leaves weren’t quite done all of the way. With my mock lasagna, I ate 1/2 cucumber, a handful of strawberries, and a breadstick. And of course, I had 5 chocolate delights. I really need to quit that!

I drank 3 liters of water.

Overnight Gain/Loss: -1.2 Yay! Still doing well!

Total Loss: 7 pounds in 4 days!

HHCG: 18 drops 2 x day (I’m trying this for a second day to see if helps with hunger)

I think I am doing quite well, even with the added coconut oil and cocoa. he he.

For breakfast, I had my handy dandy black coffee w/splenda. I drink quite a bit of coffee every day. It helps to keep me full. I probably drink around 3 big coffee cups of coffee. I believe that each cup equals almost 2 cups each, so yeah… that’s quite a bit. I have switched to Maxwell House 1/2 lite coffee, so we are drinking coffee with 1/2 the amount of caffeine. Hopefully, I would like to eventually work my way down to caffeine-free coffee!

For lunch today, I had 3.5 oz. chicken breast, 7 asparagus that i attempted to bread with my ground of breadstick, and 6 strawberries. I made chocolate delights out of some candy molds that I bought from Michael’s. I made the Chocolate Delights from melted coconut oil, cocoa, and splenda. I must be doing something wrong because they aren’t really turning out as sweet as I had thought. Oh well, I like dark chocolate, so I’ll eat them anyway. I ate 4 of them for lunch!

For dinner, I made the family stuffed bell peppers. This is where I completely broke the protocol! I decided to eat a yellow bell pepper. Not protocol at all! I made a mixture of 96% lean ground beef, crushed breadstick, and 1 Tbl. of tomato paste. To this mixture, I added some italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. I stuffed it into my bell pepper and cooked it with the rest. It came out pretty yummy! I ate an apple for dessert. I ate 4 more little chocolate delights.

I drank 4 liters of water tonight. I thought that I should drink extra water considering how “off protocol” I fell today. I can’t say that bell pepper agreed with me, either. There’s nothing like burping up bell pepper all night. EWWW!!

Total Loss: 5.8 pounds!

HHCG: 18 drops 2 x day ( I decided to change it up to see if I would feel less hungry)

Yay! The added little treat didn’t hurt my loss. I don’t want to get too excited. It is early on in my weight loss journey!

Today, I had coffee w/splenda until lunchtime. For lunch, I ate 3.5 oz. chicken breast, 8 asparagus, a handful of strawberries, and a breadstick. Once again, I slipped in a little coconut oil w/cocoa and splenda.

For dinner, I ate 3.5 oz. 96% lean ground beef, 8 asparagus, an apple, and a breadstick. I got a little choco-happy and had another spoonful of coconut oil w/ cocoa and splenda. hmmmm…..

And, of course, 3 liters of water.

Today’s Weight: 197.6

Overnight Gain/Loss: -3.2 Yippee!

Total Loss: 4 pounds!

Okay, now I’m getting a little excited. I lost 3.2 pounds overnight. Holy cow! I can’t believe it. I have lost 4 pounds in 2 days. This is very exciting.

Today, I did my normal 12 drops 3 x daily. For breakfast, I drank a bunch of coffee sweetened with Splenda. I will have to get used to this. I used to drink my coffee with cream, so this will take a little getting used to. For lunch, I ate 3.5 oz. of 96% lean ground beef, 8 asparagus spears grilled on my handy dandy George Foreman grill, 1 sesame breadstick, and one apple. My dinner consisted of hot ‘n sour cabbage soup again (yum!) with 100 grams of chicken breast, and a handful of strawberries. I drank 3 liters of water.

Now, here is where I got a little bad. I’ve been reading a lot about fellow HCG dieters making something called ” Chocolate Delight “. This was originally created by user ‘delmen’ off of YouTube.

Chocolate Delight consists of unsweetened cocoa, splenda, and coconut oil. Coconut oil is supposed to be really good for you, and many people on the HCG Diet have claimed that it helps with the weight loss. I am VERY early into this diet, but I’ve had a bit of cravings, so I decided to try some. I mixed up 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil with 1/2 tablespoon of cocoa and 1 tablespoon of splenda. I didn’t let it “harden”. Instead, I decided to just eat it off the spoon. That was actually enough to satisfy me. Before that, my stomach felt like it was eating itself! I had that horrible sinking feeling in my stomach. We’ll see how this effects my weight loss tomorrow! Oh boy…

I saw a recipe for hot ‘n sour cabbage soup on one of the HCG yahoo groups, and I decided to slightly change it up a bit. As a result, this is what I came up with:

Hot ‘N Sour Cabbage Soup

100 grams of chicken breast or 96% lean ground beef

1/4 cabbage, shredded or chopped

16 oz. low sodium fat-free chicken broth

1 cup water

1 Tbl. lemon juice

2 Tbl. apple cider vinegar (I use Bragg’s. It’s the best!)

1 tsp. onion powder

1 tsp. garlic powder

black pepper to taste

crushed red pepper to taste

Cook your meat. Place cooked meat in a small pot with remaining ingredients. Cook on med heat until cabbage is tender. This makes a very large bowl of cabbage soup. No need for any added salt due to the chicken broth. If you are worried about the sodium, replace 1/2 of the chicken broth with an additional amount of water.

Servings: 1 (You get to eat the whole thing!)

HCG Exchange: Your meat and veggie for one meal (or your veggie if you leave out the meat)

Starting Weight: 201.6

Today’s Weight: 200.8

Overnight Gain/Loss: -.8

Total Loss: .8

I stepped on the scale this morning and weighed myself. I dropped .8 pound. How is that even possible??? I ate total junk yesterday for my LD#2. Well, I’ve heard this happens. It’s nice that it happened to me! lol

Okay, so this was my very first low calorie day on this diet. Let’s see how I did:

Well, this day didn’t start out like I had expected it. I was so very busy and running around everywhere. I had NO time at all to prepare any food. I chose to eat Burger King’s salad with 4 cherry tomatoes and grilled ckn. I trashed the croutons, dressing, and cheese. I mixed my veggies (salad greens and tomatoes) which is a NO-NO on this diet. Well, I skipped having any fruit for lunch because of it. Oh well. I had to do something. Some people say you can use a tomato for a veggie or a fruit. I don’t really like to do that very often because it really wasn’t written in the original protocol. The original protocol lists a tomato under the veggie category.

I couldn’t find any grissini at my local Wal-Mart, so I opted for a sesame breadstick at 23 calories. For dinner, I ate homemade hot ‘n sour cabbage soup with 3-1/2 oz. 96% lean ground beef, a sesame breadstick, and about 6 strawberries.  I drank 3 liters of water.

I have had terrible headaches for 3 days now. I’m sure it’s the HHCG (homeopathic HCG) working through my system, but this just stinks. You can take something for it, but I chose not to take anything. I’ve been really tired as well.

Okay, so it’s loading day number 2, and I already made a mistake. I’m sure I will make a lot of mistakes along the way. I was so excited to start this diet yesterday that I didn’t weight myself! Oh well, I weighed myself today, and my weight is 201.6. I have no idea how many pounds I gained from that day yesterday. I will probably use this number as my official starting weight.

Today, I tried harder to eat more fatty foods. I took my 12 drops 3 x daily. My food constisted of the following: Burger King double croissanwich w/sausage and bacon, two loaded chili dogs with cheese, lots of Little Debbie snack cakes throughout the day, and a Super Sonic Cheeseburger with mayo and a large order of onion rings.  I feel rather stuffed at the moment! I did manage to drink 3 liters of water again today. Onward to the start of VLCD 1 (very low calorie day) tomorrow.

What is a loading day? A loading day is the first 2 or 3 days that you are taking your HCG, whether it be injections, sublingual, or homeopathic. On loading days, you eat as much as you can in fatty foods; thus, “loading” up your system with lots of fat.

Here is what Dr. Simeons says in his manual: “Patients whose general condition is low, owing to excessive previous dieting, must eat to capacity for about one week before starting treatment, regardless of how much weight they may gain in the process. One cannot keep a patient comfortably on 500 Calories unless his normal fat reserves are reasonably well stocked. It is for this reason also that every case, even those that are actually gaining must eat to capacity of the most fattening food they can get down until they have had the third injection. It is a fundamental mistake to put a patient on 500 Calories as soon as the injections are started, as it seems to take about three injections before abnormally deposited fat begins to circulate and thus become available.”

Some people even decide to do 3 loading days. I’m only going to do 2 loading days.

Okay, so it’s loading day number 1. The brand of homeopathic drops that I purchased is called Natural Health Labs HCG. I bought them on ebay for around $21 in an auction. A 2 oz. bottle is supposed to last 40 days. On the bottle, it says to take 6 drops 6 x daily. I have decided not to do that. In order for homeopathic drops to work, you need to take them several times per day. They do not stay in your system as long. I have decided to start out with 12 drops 3 x daily. I wasn’t particularly hungry, but I forced myself to eat. I ate several twinkies and little debbie snack cakes throughout the day, two sandwiches LOADING with lots of meat and several slices of cheese. For dinner, I loaded up on chili dogs. Okay, it’s not the best start to fatty foods, but I wanted to start this diet today because my drops came in today! I also drank 3 liters of water. I wanted to start off drinking my water! Now, off to tomorrow!

After trying out Weight Watchers 2 years ago and gaining back much of the weight that I lost, I have decided to try a new approach to my weight loss. A few weeks ago, a friend told me about the HCG diet. Another friend’s sister had lost around 27 pounds in 27 days. This really intrigued me, so I went home and started doing some research…

Two years ago, I started on my Weight Watchers journey. I lost 36.4 pounds in 40 weeks. I was on the diet from January 20, 2008 until October 26, 2008. I went from a tight size 18 to a comfortable size 14 and size large clothes. At my heavy weight, I weighed 213 pounds. That’s a lot for a 5’3″ person. At my lowest WW weight, I weight 176.6 pounds. That’s still heavy, but not nearly as bad. My weight loss was slow, but I didn’t have a problem with it at the time. I was in no hurry. I thought that was how a diet was supposed to be. I even started going to the gym several times a week, lifting weights and exercising on a stationary bike. I play tennis as well, so I was getting plenty of exercise. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 10+ years ago, so my metabolism has never been the greatest. I can barely eat and still pack on the pounds. People are crazy if they think all overweight people just sit around and eat. Some of us have very messed up metabolisms thank you very much! I enjoyed WW in the sense that I was eating throughout the day. Sometimes it felt like I was constantly eating (if I picked the right foods!). At other times, I got so sick of measuring and adding up points for every single recipe. It was easier to eat boring foods that to make something out of several ingredients. After I lost 36 pounds, I am guessing that I just got tired of constantly working at it, and I started slacking off with my food diary. Over the course of the past two years, I have gained back 25 pounds. So, my starting weight for this new journey is a whopping 201.6 pounds. Oh joy!
