VLCD stands for Very Low Calorie Diet.

This is Phase 2 from days 2-23+. Your very low calorie diet will consist of 500 calories per day as written in Dr. Simeon’s protocol, Pounds and Inches.

The following information is from the Dr. Simeon’s manuscript, Pounds and Inches:

BREAKFAST:

Tea or coffee. One tablespoon of milk is allowed per day. You can use sweeteners, but no sugar.

LUNCH:

1) 100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. Remove fat and weigh your meat raw. No oil or butter is allowed. Meats that are not allowed: salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish.

2) One type of vegetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.

3) One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast.

4) An apple, orange, a handful of strawberries, or one-half grapefruit.

DINNER:

The same 4 choices as lunch.

You are allowed the following seasonings: The juice of one lemon daily, salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil, parsley, thyme, majoram, etc., may be used for seasoning, but no oil, butter or dressing.

Tea, coffee, plain water, or mineral water are the only drinks allowed, but they may be taken in any quantity and at all times.

Drink at least 2 liters of fluid per day.

You may eat your fruit or breadstick between meals if you get hungry, but you are not allowed to eat more than 4 of the listed items at any one meal.

100 grams of meat should be weighed raw, with the fat removed.

If you are not very hungry, you can omit anything that you wish.

Breaking up your meals is okay if you would like to eat a little bit at breakfast and a snack at bedtime, but they have to be subtracted from your regular meals.

You may not eat 2 breadsticks or 2 fruits at the same time, and you may not
